Description
The Lehigh County Courthouse in Allentown, Pennsylvania on a mild December afternoon shortly before the 2022 New Year holiday. It's an unusually warm day tempered by cloud cover that portends of rain for the next few days.
The courthouse is located on 5th and Hamilton Streets in the heart of Allentown. Construction completed in 1965 - the exterior of the building is a combination of sunset red colored granite (from Texas), charcoal grey granite (from Minnesota), glass, steel and concrete. I'm happy to report that I've only seen the inside of this building one time many years ago.
For some time, this building stuck out in downtown as one of the few large modern styled buildings. However, much has changed in the past 20 years as center city has seen an infusion of large corporate towers and a hockey arena, giving the courthouse some company on the modern style architecture front.
This is a split tone version of the image, blending some granite grey and blue tones. I have a few alternative versions of this photograph in my store, so be sure to check them all out.
