Description
Illick's Mill is a historic grist mill located in Bethlehem's Monocacy Park, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Also known as Peter's Mill and Monocacy Milling Co, the mill was constructed in 1856. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, the building is maintained managed by the City of Bethlehem's Parks, Recreation & Public Properties Department.
In this photo, the mill is surrounded in natural green landscaping during the early Summer months. Trees from Monocacy Park frame the right side of the image, along with two light posts mounted on stone pillars, which likely served as a gate at some time. The sky is overcast, yet maintains a slight blue hue. Some modern updates are visible on the building. These include aluminum siding on the 3rd and 4th floors as well as updated metal railings for the stairs leading up to the mill's door. The mill is largely cobblestone with wooden ample wooden windows lining each floor. The fourth floor is a monitor roof, which was added on in 1880.
